Dust Off Your Gear - Adult Musicians with Day Jobs Get Out of the Basement and into the League of Rock
For the first time adults get to meet other non-pro musicians, workshop with famous and professional rock stars and record in world class studios with the League of Rock.
[PressFlow.co.uk, Aug 15 2007] The League Of Rock is just like a hockey, baseball, or bowling league, only now for the first time adults get to meet other non-pro musicians, jam in great spaces, workshop with famous and professional rockers and record in world class studios. This community of adult rockers is finally getting out of the basement to rock out loud. The concept came to Founder, Terry Moshenberg like being wacked on the head with his Gibson Les Paul. Why is there a league for everything except music? You can join a community to play indoor Frisbee; you can join a knitting league, why can't you join a league to play in a band?
The League Of Rock is the first international music league that brings it all together to give members a unique, life-changing experience, Terry states. The league's current session is filled to capacity, but is accepting registrations for the next session in July. Adult members receive white glove service, get to jam in themed rehearsal studios and other great venues around the GTA, record in world class recording studios and professional rockers come in to coach the short-term bands as they make their way toward recording a 3 Song CD. Even the pizza and beverages are supplied.
The league is not for professional musicians who want to be rock stars. Members aren't looking for the money, or groupies, or fame says Terry. It's for those 30 to 60 year olds who have careers, perhaps families or other commitments, want to jam and can't be bothered with the gritty details of arranging rehearsal space, finding musicians, and moving gear around.
Members get to meet and play with other like-minded career people, and meet and learn from professional rockers who helped create a generation of incredible music. It's a lifestyle, not a career. Music is learned by sharing licks, teaching each other songs and hang'n out, not by sitting in a small square room with a 'teacher'. You must rock out loud to get true rock vindication.
When you ponder who would run such a unique league, you would think it would be musicians doing it. Think again. Although Terry has been playing music on and off for 15 years, he's not really what you'd call a professional musician. Terry is an experienced entrepreneur with many years spent as a strategist in new media. Terry finally decided to let his 'closet musician' out, and he took the plunge, head long into re-inventing the way non-professional musicians interact.
The League Of Rock is an international initiative which has its first Chapter in Toronto. With the league fully sponsored by Gibson Guitar, Long & McQuade, The Argos, Planters Peanuts and Plain + Simple, members, coaches, sponsors, and friends enjoyed the opening draft event on March 28th at the new Gibson Guitar Artist Showroom. Alan Frew from Glass Tiger opened the jam session and everyone watched as the suits crashed together with the rockers in a way they've never done before. The launch was a raving success. The current JAB (Join A Band) Session is in progress and 10 bands are jamming like mad every week in and around Toronto, preparing to record a 3 Song CD.
Chapters will be launched in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Eastern Canada respectively. Los Angeles and New York will follow.
The League Of Rock Provides Three Opportunities For People To Pursue Their Passion:
1. JAB Sessions (Join A Band)
Join a short-term band, and rehearse once a week for 10 weeks. At sessions end record three songs and leave with a CD. Producers and famous rockers show up to workshop with you and answer questions. All the gear, rehearsal studios and gritty details are handled with white glove service. Even the beer and wings are supplied.
2. Full Day Hands-On Workshops
Members get first dibs on this program. Only a maximum of 30 people can attend and youre invited to bring your instrument. This is where you get to learn from famous rockers in a setting that is totally conducive to learning how those songs you love should really sound.
3. Rewards + Incentives (Corporate Team Building)
Companies hire League Of Rock management to produce music-based team building, rewards and incentive events for employees. Participants get to write, record and perform with famous rockers, song writers and producers. The event culminates in a big event the whole company attends.
League Of Rock management has deep relationships with music industry gate keepers including lawyers, record companies, and personal managers. Talent is contracted on an 'as available' basis. Schedules change fast, and many rockers come through different cities at different times. League management knows who's in what city on what date and ensures members get exclusive access to a constant flow of talented people willing to share their knowledge and experience.
