[PressFlow.co.uk, Aug 15 2007] On June 21st, 2007, Unilever Canada turned 100 employees into members of one big rock band. Under the League Of Rock's (LOR) guidance, the company's typical 9:00 - 5:00 pm workday with its requisite client meetings, emails and internal meetings was changed up for guitars, keyboards, conga drums and microphones in a team building session which is already paying dividends. Definitely not karaoke, the fully customized session was developed to meet Unilever's specific team building needs. Besides the intense team building exercises everyone experienced, other benefits realized were a professionally produced DVD of the event which is being used in the company's recruiting efforts, the opportunity to re-connect with fellow team members in a new and unique way, and based on the very positive feedback that continues to flow in from participants, the Managements Teams real demonstration of Unilever's Vitality Mission statement.
Annually, we have team building/motivational type exercises which are forced events that typically do not have lasting effects, LOR's Music-Based Team Building Event caused a buzz like no other, said Ralph Chiarot, Team Leader, Unilever Canada. It was high energy, creative, it was cool, and no one has forgotten our event!
Performing in a band with famous musicians showing you the way is the ultimate in team synchronicity, said LOR founder Terry Moshenberg. Each member must contribute and listen, each team member must truly like and agree on each others contribution, and the whole process must be fun or it breaks down. The League Of Rock band was headed by Lighthouse lead singer Dan Clancy and other fabulous musicians included original Coney Hatch guitarist, now playing for Goddo Steve Shelski.
Established in 2006, LOR was conceived to give thousands of 30 - 60 year old musicians who have careers and families a chance to enjoy playing and jamming with other like minded musicians without having to give up their careers and go on the road to be a rock star.
There are graduates of the Spring J.A.B. (Join A Band) Session which allow participants to literally join a band for ten weeks to jam with other adult musicians, workshop with pros, jam in great spaces, and record in world-class studios. The Summer J.A.B. Session is currently underway and registration is open for the Fall J.A.B. Session. The LOR also offers Full Day Intensive Workshops where Members enjoy front of the line access to intimate hand-on workshops with professionals.
